Egg Hunts for Families to Check Out in Chicagoland

This year, Easter is on April 9, 2023, and there are tons of events happening in the city and surrounding suburbs. Some places are even putting their own unique spin on the hunt – such as egg hunting in the pool or in the dark by flashlight.

Egg hunts in Chicago

Egg Hunt at Austin Town Hall Park

April 1, 2023

Ages 6-12 can take part in an egg treasure hunt, arts and crafts, activities and dancing with the bunny.

Egg Hunt at Commercial Club Playground

April 1, 2023

The egg hunt will be broken up into three sections divided by age. This event is great for 10 and under. 

Egg Hunt at Galewood Park

April 1, 2023

Ages 5-12 can enjoy a colorful egg hunt, play games, make crafts and get their photo taken with the Easter Bunny. Baskets will be provided. Registration required.

Egg Hunt at Grand Crossing Park

April 1, 2023

Ages 3-10 can join the bunny egg hunt, play games, make arts and crafts and more. Registration required.

Egg Hunt at Hollywood Park

April 1, 2023

Ages 10 and under can enjoy fun and games at this annual egg hunt event in Hollywood Park.

Egg Hunt at West Lawn Park

April 1, 2023

Enjoy a fun-filled egg hunt in the West Lawn neighborhood. This event is recommended for ages 3-12.

Community Egg Hunt at Hamlin (Hannibal) Park

April 2, 2023

Kids can bring their own basket to collect colorful, filled eggs at this annual egg hunt.

Bunny Hop at Hale (Nathan) Park

April 6, 2023

Ages 3-5 will enjoy an egg hunt, crafts, basket raffles, music, dancing, face painting and pictures with the Easter Bunny! Registration required.

Easter Egg-Stravaganza at Lincoln Park Zoo

April 8, 2023

This annual event will include multiple egg hunts for different age groups, photo ops with spring characters, music, games and more. New this year is a zoo-wide scavenger hunt. Registration required.

Egg Hunt at Field (Eugene) Park

April 8, 2023

Families can join the Bunny to hunt for colorful eggs at this annual egg hunt. Bring your own basket.

Egg hunts in North/Northwest Suburbs

Wonderland Egg Hunt at The Preserve of Highland Park

April 7, 2023

This Easter egg hunt features scenes and characters from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The hunt will include 60,000 plastic eggs filled with treats and is broken into different age groups. For ages 1-9. Registration required.

Palatine Jaycees Egg Hunt at Falcon Park Recreation Center

April 8, 2023

This annual egg hunt is open to children ages 0-9. There will be arts and crafts, music and photos with the Easter Bunny. Pre-registration is recommended, but not required.

 

Egg hunts in South Suburbs

Flashlight Egg Hunt at Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center

March 31, 2023

Kids ages 3-10 will complete a craft before heading out on the trails to find treat-filled eggs hidden in the woods. A non-paying adult must accompany child.

Woodland Egg Hunt at Iron Oaks Environmental Learning Center

March 31, 2023

Kids ages 3-10 will grab their basket and find the hidden eggs in the woods. The hunt will be followed by a spring craft. A non-paying adult must accompany child.

Easter Egg Hunt at Kennelly Park

April 1, 2023

Kids 12 and under will be divided into age groups. The gym will be open before and after the egg hunt for different kids activities. Registration required.

Easter Egg Hunt at Stony Creek Golf Course

April 1, 2023

The Easter Bunny drops off some fun-filled eggs so kids ages 0-8 can participate in the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The egg hunts will be age-segmented and space is limited. Registration required before March 25, 2023.

Lucky Egg Hunt at Irwin Park

April 1, 2023

Children ages 10 and younger will be able to hunt for Easter eggs. Find one of the few lucky eggs that will give you an extra prize. The bunny will be available for photos after the hunt. For Homewood-Flossmoor residents only. 

Egg hunts in Western Suburbs 

Tween Flashlight Egg Hunt at Prairie Path Park

March 31, 2023

Tweens will receive a glow stick and if they find the golden egg, they will receive a special prize. Bring your own flashlight and bag to collect eggs. This event is for ages 9-12. Pre-registration is required.

Doggie Easter Egg Hunt at West Main Community Park

April 1, 2023

Dogs hunt for Easter eggs that are filled with doggie treats. All dogs must be leashed during the event. Pre-registration is requested.

Easter Egg Hunt at Pottawatomie Park

April 1, 2023

Kids ages 9 and under should make sure to bring their own basket to this event. They will be able to collect a maximum of 10 eggs. Registration is not required.

Easter Egg Hunt at Cantigny Park

April 2, 2023

Join in on the fun at Cantigny Park the annual egg hunt. Bring your own bag or basket and return the eggs to the redemption area for prizes.

Aqua Egg Hunt at Oak Brook Park District Family Aquatics Center

April 6-7, 2023

Kids ages 0-12 can scoop up eggs filled with prizes in the pool. Participants are divided into age groups and assigned to appropriate swimming areas/depths. Families are welcome to stay and enjoy the remainder of the 90-minute event as an open swim with the play features (including the water slide). Registration is only for those participating in the hunt.

Flashlight Teen Egg Hunt at Wilder Park

April 6, 2023

A fun Easter event just for teenagers. Older kids ages 11-16 will be able to grab their flashlights and join their friends for the Flashlight Egg Hunt in Wilder Park. Search for prize eggs filled with candy, gift certificates and other great prizes. Registration not required.

Flashlight Egg Hunt & Hike at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center

April 7, 2023

All ages are welcome to this egg hunt and hike. Make sure to bring your flashlight in search of treat-filled eggs along the trail. Advanced registration is required.

Doggie Eggstravaganza at Berens Park

April 8, 2023

Bring your four-legged friend to Berens Park for their own egg hunt. Dogs must be accompanied by at least one person over age 16. Registration is not required.

Egg Hunt at Berens Park

April 8, 2023

Ages 2-10 can bring their own basket to fill it at Berens Park annual egg hunt. They’ll collect eggs and visit with the Easter Bunny.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt at Jefferson Field

April 8, 2023

Kids of all ages can bring their own basket to collect 20,000 candy-filled Easter eggs. The Easter Extravaganza and parade following the hunt.
