Where to Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Chicago

As 2022 finally (finally) winds down, it’s time to start thinking about how to ring in the New Year. Chicago restaurants and bars are here to help by putting together special menus and events so that folks can celebrate in style. Enjoy fine-dining feasts, open bar packages, bottles of bubbly, and much more. Everyone deserves to treat themselves for making it through another long and arduous year.

Avondale Bowl

It’ll be all fun and games on New Year’s Eve at Avondale Bowl. Party people can reserve a lane for up to six people, with a $500 package that includes bowling for two hours and shoe rental. Email events@avondalebowl.com for availability.

Central Park Bar

New Avondale tavern Central Park Bar is inviting folks in for a cozy and laid-back Neighborhood New Years Eve that features an all-inclusive drink package from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. as well as a food buffet, DJ sets, and Champagne toast at midnight. Tickets, available via Eventbrite, are $90 per person.

 

The J. Parker

Hustle into 2023 with the J. Parker’s Studio 54 New Year's Eve Celebration party. The year-round rooftop venue atop Hotel Lincoln is offering an all-inclusive package that includes premium cocktails, wine, beer, passed appetizers, buffet stations, and a Champagne toast at midnight. Revelers are encouraged to dig out their best ‘ '70s-inspired outfits for a photo booth on-site to capture the good times. Tickets start at $150 and are available via Eventbrite.

Bloom Plant Based Kitchen

Bloom Plant Based Kitchen has vegans covered with a five-course dinner for $85 from Beard-nominated chef Rodolfo Cuadros. Dishes included a truffle area with hears of palm cream Fraiche, kelp caviar and chervil. The final course is a banana blossom crab cake with dijon mustard.

Ina Mae Tavern & Packaged Goods

Eat and drink like those in the Big Easy with a four-hour call drink package, passed appetizers like gumbo and po’boys, live DJ, midnight toast, and a burlesque show from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. at Ina Mae. Tickets ($75) are available via Tock.

Wazwan

Chef Zubair Mohajir will bring a celebratory New Year’s Eve to Chicago with a five-course tasting menu starring South Indian cuisine such as duck Numidian (date, pine nut) and Pani Puri (aguachile, toro, caviar), as well as Champagne and a signature cocktail pairing. Heritage Restaurant & Caviar Bar

The Eastern European-tinged restaurant has created a five-course tasting menu centered around all things good luck for New Year’s Eve. Diners can expect a lineup that includes shrimp and pork soup dumplings as well as blackened redfish and crayfish with black-eyed peas and collard greens. It’s priced at $100 per person, plus $75 for optional beverage pairings. Book a reservation via Tock.

 

Offshore Rooftop & Bar

The nation’s largest rooftop deck (certified by Guinness), located on the third floor of Navy Pier, is saying goodbye to 2022 with a “Glitz & Glam” New Year’s Eve bash inside its glass atrium. Attendees can take in the views of the city’s skyline and the lake while partaking in open bars, passed bites, a Champagne toast, and front-row seats to the midnight fireworks show. Tickets ($225) are available via Eventbrite.

The Dawson

The Dawson in River West will turn the page to 2023 with an opulent three-course prix fixe menu of options including oysters on the half shell with tomato ponzu, butter-poached Maine lobster bucatini; cabernet-braised short ribs; and a chocolate peanut tart. Reservations are available online.

Elina's

West Town hotspot Elina’s will mark its second New Year’s Eve with a five-course prix fixe and optional wine or cocktail pairings. The menu will include steak tartare with Kaluga caviar, macaroni rigatoni alla vodka, and Dover sole with brown butter and black truffle. Tickets ($175) and more details are available via Resy.

Topolobampo

Rick Bayless’s acclaimed Mexican restaurant is crafting a special menu to ring in 2023. Menu specifics are scarce, but the team promises a “luxurious and festive” meal with rare wine pairings, special Champagne selections, and margaritas. Live mariachis and balloons will bolster the party atmosphere. Tickets ($200) are available via Tock.

Bar Goa

Bar Goa will blast into the New Year with a “dress to impress” Bollywood and EDM party with passed hors d’oeuvres, four drink tickets, a Champagne toast at midnight, and VIP booths. Tickets start at $95 and are available via Resy.

Radio Room

Radio Room’s New Year’s Eve extravaganza will feature an open bar, passed appetizers and desserts, live musical performances and DJ sets, a midnight Prosecco toast, and more. Tickets start at $75 and are available via Eventbrite.

Tabu

Tabu chef Saul Roman has a four-course prix-fixe dinner for $95 at this modern Mexican spot. The price also covers access to the lounge for dancing. Late-night food is also available and reservations are via OpenTable.

Pizzeria Portofino

Kick 2023 off along the riverfront at Pizzeria Portofino. The restaurant is hosting an evening filled with passed appetizers, pizza stations, and signature cocktails. Guests will also have front-row views of the fireworks show and live entertainment from DJ Matthew White. Tickets ($125) are available via Tock.

Boqueria

Celebrate New Year’s Eve the Spanish way at Boqueria in the West Loop. Diners will get a tapas feast to share alongside unlimited beer, wine, and sangria. The first seating at 6:30 p.m. ($85) and the second is at 9:30 p.m. ($135) and includes a cava toast. Bookings are available via Resy.

 

The Izakaya at Momotaro

Momotaro’s subterranean lounge is evoking the spirit of Japan with a Harajuku-themed New Year’s Eve event. Admission includes access to numerous food stations including “konbini corner” with Japanese convenience store bites and festival food (think yakisoba and Wagyu menchikatsu), as well as three drink tickets, a sake toast, and music from DJ Shin. Tickets ($180) are available via Tock.

 

Avli on the Park

The Loop outpost of Greek sensation Avli is offering a five-course dinner designed by executive chef Nikos Kapernaros. The first seating at 6 p.m. is priced at $95 per person while the second seating at 9 p.m., which includes entry into Avli’s “A Very Greek Celebration” after-party ($50 per ticket), is $150. Reservations are available via Tock.

Smyth + The Loyalist

Indulge in a special three-course menu with selections like pan-seared Dutch hiramasa (also known as yellowtail or amberjack) and an 8-ounce prime strip loin with black garlic jus at the Loyalist. Patrons can also pre-order supplements off an a la carte menu featuring hits like the Loyalist cheeseburger and desserts. Meanwhile, Michelin-starred sibling Smyth offers a $475 dinner with two seatings. Bookings are available via Tock.

Chicago Athletic Association - The Unbound Collection by Hyatt

The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel’s venues have a variety of experiences of NYE. The Drawing Room and Cherry Circle Rooms will host happy hours for walk-ins starting at 4 p.m. Cherry Circle is serving a five-course dinner for $150 before 9 p.m. and $175 afterward with a welcome glass of champagne and a midnight toast. The Milk Room bar, for $200, is offering a night of champagne and barrel-aged cocktails. The package includes bites.

Dusek's Tavern

Dusek’s will start the New Year’s Eve party with a special menu of food, cocktails, natural wines, fresh seafood, and plenty of Champagne. Reservations are available online.

 

 

The Duck Inn

Bridgeport gastropub the Duck Inn is preparing a two-person feast with festive favorites for pickup and delivery on New Year’s Eve. Opulent menu items include a foie gras terrine with black truffles, a shellfish tower, Wagyu steak tartare with cured duck egg, and much more. Place orders via Tock.
