Park Ridge

Charming suburb with historic roots dating back to the 1830s.

Welcome to Park Ridge

Historical suburb finds its way into the present with new uptown developments.

Park Ridge is a charming suburb with historic roots dating back to the 1830s. It was founded early in American history, and Park Ridge still has the architecture to prove it. Walking through this city’s suburbs, you will find historical landmarks, 100-year-old homes, and traditional Colonial architecture everywhere.

However, Park Ridge has not stayed in the past and continues to grow into the present. With new townhomes and older ranch-style homes, Park Ridge offers the best of the old and new. Between 1999 and 2009, the suburb underwent a huge wave of new developments, adding everything from retail commercial space to condominiums. It is now home to over 37,000 residents.

Park Ridge’s proximity to Chicago, the O’Hare International Airport, and public transportation make it a desirable place to live for commuters and residents who don’t want to live in the immediate metropolitan area but would like quick, easy access to Chicago. Park Ridge is just 15 miles from Chicago.

Things to Do

Pickwick Theatre is a historical Art Deco landmark in Park Ridge that has been open since 1928. The theatre was registered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and continues to entertain the community. What started as a vaudeville stage and movie theater is now mostly just a movie theater. However, the 100-foot tower and shining red and gold marquee are still a sight to behold. Stop by for a movie and revel in the historic wonder that is the Pickwick Theatre.

Cruisin’ Park Ridge is held on the first Friday of the month between June and September. Residents of Park Ridge and the Chicago area are invited to show off their pride and joy: their cars. The event provides the family with the chance to see cool cars and dance to live entertainment.

Schools
