Local Lifestyle

Lakeview is a wonderful community with arts and music, international cuisine, and the typical Chicago-style architecture scattered throughout the neighborhoods. Residents often walk the neighborhoods to chat with neighbors or just take in the fresh air and the tree-lined residential streets. With lakefront access to Lake Michigan, Lakeview also draws in big crowds for the summer. Rent a boat, go kayaking, or ride a bike right along the coast for a local adventure.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

You can’t talk about food in Chicago without mentioning pizza. Lakeview has plenty to try, but the Art of Pizza is one of the more popular pizza joints in Lakeview. Chicago Tribune voted The Art of Pizza’s slice the #1 deep dish pizza in Chicago, and it’s worth verifying. Residents can try a deep dish, thin crust, or stuffed pizza and make the call for themselves.

If pizza isn’t your craving, that’s not going to be an issue with the sheer number of options in Lakeview. The Chicago Diner is a unique restaurant that has been meat-free since 1983. You’ll find everything the quintessential diner has, from neon signs to checkered floors to shiny red and chrome stools at the counter, but no meat. Whether you have food sensitivities or just want to indulge in a meatless meal, the Chicago Diner can serve comfort food and top it off with a classic milkshake to end the meal.

Things to Do

Paulina Market has been a staple in the Lakeview community since 1949. Offering only fresh, high-quality meat, fish, and poultry, the market remains a popular shop with the locals. This family-owned market has anything you could hope for, from 10 different kinds of homemade bacon straight from their smokehouse to 80 different sausages and brats. Paulina Market is more than a butcher shop, smokehouse, and grocery stop — it’s a local favorite for good reason.

Wrigley Field is a Chicago landmark that opened in 1914. Most importantly, it is a household name due to its prominence and fame in the world of baseball. It’s the home field of the Chicago Cubs and is known widely for its ivy-covered outfield walls and rooftop seats. If you’re a baseball fan or just want to take the family out for a day in the sun, catching a Cub’s game is an excellent way of doing so.

Schools

Lakeview is served by the Chicago Public School District, the third-largest school district in the nation.
